CHANGING THE FACE OF BEAUTY
Beauty is a strange phenomenon. it is advertised and glamorised as physical perfection that can seduce, charm and overpower.
I can see why women believe that men want perfection; we want the perfect wax job on our car, to catch the perfect wave or have our team perform for the perfect touchdown. But when it comes to women we see perfect beauty when she reveals her true self.
While shooting a campaign on the Greek islands I met a woman in her late sixties who exemplified perfect beauty in its truest form. During the day she would swim and sun bake on the nude beach and in the evenings she would dance with wild abandon. She had a lover who was thirty who had eyes only for her, and when she walked into any room, she lit it up, merely with the fullness of her presence.
Often when I tell this story, women look at me skeptically and ask me if she had had a lot of work done! Of course they are referring to cosmetic surgery. This woman hadn't had any, nor was she a wealthy socialite. She had wrinkles, her breasts were not as perky as those of a twenty year old and gravity had taken its natural course. But she was truly beautiful. Her wit, freedom and self acceptance were inspiringly beautiful!
We assume that to reveal ourselves so openly to the world that we must be picture perfect. Yet the fear of age was not limiting her life. To her it was not about a number, a dress size or a firm body part - it was all about her attitude. Instead of the 'old beauty' having power over her, she was empowering everyone around her by the truth of beauty- what is good, what matters, what doesn’t anymore, what never did, and what will from here on in.
We just need to look around to see that the old definition of beauty and what women think men want is getting its arse kicked by the truth of BEAUTY.
Never forget,

'You are whole and beautiful
For no other reason than you are a woman.'
Be beautiful be free…
Stay blessed
