There is a huge responsibility that comes with using words. It takes a split second for words to leave our mouths, but they can live in a heart forever.
The casual put down, the degrading joke made at the expense of another person or that little criticism can all slowly destroy love and the way a person thinks and feels. Criticism is destructive and demeaning, and I am not just referring to the way we communicate with another person, but also the way we communicate with ourselves.
Words that express love are uplifting, not deflating, instructive not destructive. So why do we chose words that wound and hurt, as opposed to those that strengthen love and self acceptance?
So while love offers all of us an opportunity to grow, self love (and talk) allows us to feel more, heal more and love more.
