A man I know whose wife recently passed away told me the other day that he misses her terribly. He then went on to say that in all his life she was the only person who had ever believed in him.
What I walked away with from this conversation was that it makes no difference how old we are, we can all grow and heal knowing that the people in our lives respect and believe in who we are.
His wife was a woman who stood by him and allowed him to grow and change at various stages in his life and as he said, "I was not the easiest man to live with, but everyday she reminded me in some way that I was truly important."
He was obviously a good man, and so on days when he did not feel that good about himself or his life, his wife always celebrated his goodness.
It is easy to love a person when a person loves us back in a way that makes us happy but the real challenge is to love them when they don’t.
