Regardless of what we do in life, we all need to relax our bodies and our minds.
While I have practised a combination of Tai chi, Pilates and Yoga at various stages, what I have come to understand is that they not only keep the body toned, strong and healthy, they also have a very real impact on the mind.
With each of these practises the focus is on breathing deeply and rhythmically, which naturally calms the mind and lifts our spirits.
Another such activity is stretching which also requires us to follow our own breath. This one can be done at home in the lounge, in the back yard, on the bed or even in the bath.
Daily calming of the mind allows us to find a sense of stillness and in that we find a relaxed sense of happiness and a strong sense of our beauty as human beings.
